## Product summary

Posnic POS is an offline-first point-of-sale application for shops, restaurants
and pharmacies. The desktop application runs its database and API locally on
the till. It is free and open source under AGPL-3.0-only. Posnic Cloud is an
optional paid service for sync, off-site backups and remote dashboards.

## Important limitations

- The current Windows installer is unsigned.
- Current macOS builds are signed but not notarized.
- Hardware support varies between tested, code-tested and standards-based paths;
  buyers should test their exact devices.
- The project security policy states that no independent security audit has been
  commissioned.
- The reproduced API result covers the repository's curated Jest suite; it is not
  a hosted acceptance test, hardware test, cloud test or independent audit.
- The reproduced graphical sales report uses one synthetic cash sale. KOT report
  views, filters, exports and a complete restaurant shift still require testing.
- Stable-release documents disagree on the exact API endpoint count, so Posnic
  does not market one exact total until that documentation is reconciled.
- Local backups must be copied or synced away from the till to protect against
  loss of the computer or disk, and a restore should be tested.
- As of 17 August 2026, Posnic has no approved named customer case study meeting
  its identity, permission, baseline, implementation and outcome evidence standard.
